The Honorable Gina Raimondo

Governor of Rhode Island

Providence, RI

Gina M. Raimondo became Rhode Island’s 75th governor and its first woman governor in 2015. Her agenda is designed to kick start the state's economy and create jobs. Previously, Raimondo was elected to serve as general treasurer of Rhode Island, receiving the largest number of votes of any statewide candidate.

When Raimondo took office as general treasurer in November 2010, she tackled the state's $7 billion unfunded pension liability and shepherded passage of the Rhode Island Retirement Security Act of 2011, which has been hailed as a national model. Because of pension reform, Rhode Island is now poised to make investments in its economy, education and infrastructure.

Raimondo graduated with honors from Harvard and was recognized as the top economics student in her class. She also earned a doctorate from Oxford University and later graduated from Yale Law School.

Raimondo has served on the Truth Initiative board of directors since 2017.
